The Hawk Tuah girl, Hailey Welch, recently discovered her ethnic roots in a surprising revelation on Howie Mandel’s podcast, leaving everyone in attendance amazed.
Known for her unmistakable southern Tennessee accent, Hailey’s origins in the U.S. were never in question, but her ancestral background had remained a mystery until now.
During a late July episode of the “Howie Mandel Does Stuff” podcast, Hailey discussed the results of her DNA test.
The room, filled with curiosity and anticipation, listened as she unveiled her ethnic makeup, revealing a deeper connection to her past.
Joining Hailey and Howie were co-host Jackelyn Shultz, Howie’s daughter, and comedian Michael Blaustein, who also engaged in the discussion.
The atmosphere turned light-hearted and filled with laughter when Hailey Welch’s DNA results were revealed during the podcast.
Welch found out she is predominantly Ashkenazi Jewish, making up 97.7% of her ancestry, with the remainder being a mix of 0.2% Eastern European, 1.7% broadly European, 0.2% Siberian, and 0.1% broadly East Asian.
Jackelyn Shultz playfully noted, “You are in a room full of Jews,” to which Michael Blaustein humorously asked, “are you scared?” quickly followed by a welcoming “welcome to Hollywood.”
Welch responded enthusiastically, sharing her recent culinary experience, “Yes, I tried Katz Deli when I was in New York – it was really good. I’m on top of the world!”
The jokes continued with Howie Mandel teasing that ‘Hawk Tuah’ might be a Yiddish phrase. Now, I’m not too sure about that, but then again, my Yiddish isn’t exactly the best.
Who would have thought that a brief viral moment and two simple sounds could make such a splash? Instead of retreating from the spotlight, Hailey Welch embraced her sudden fame, winning over many fans in the process.
She shared in a recent tweet, “Along the way, I realized that everybody’s entitled to their own opinion. Well now, it’s my time to talk.”
Welch has taken this opportunity to launch her own podcast, aptly named ‘Talk Tuah’. “I’m sitting down with the coolest guests and having actual conversations with them,” she explained.
It seems she’s truly making the best of her unexpected fame. As they say, when life gives you lemons, Hawk Tuah on them.
