This Simple Trick Saves Me Tons of Time When Shopping on Amazon

Key Takeaways

  • Set up Subscribe and Save for household essentials to save time and money on repeated purchases.
  • You can often get small discounts or coupons on Subscribe and Save items, making bulk purchases more cost-effective.
  • Not all Amazon products are eligible for Subscribe and Save, but it’s a convenient way to streamline shopping for common items.

If you buy plenty of products from Amazon, like I do, you know that sometimes online shopping can eat away at your time. Especially if you’re trying to bundle items to save on shipping fees. But I’ve found a way to streamline the process, and it requires very little effort.

Why Save Time Shopping on Amazon?

I know what you’re thinking: “Is this person serious? Amazon shopping only takes a few taps!” And you’re right if you’re only buying one thing at a time. But I like to bundle several products together, so I don’t have an Amazon driver at my house every day. Doing that also saves me a little money on shipping.

Plus, I tend to buy a lot of the same items every month, such as dog food, paper towels, kitty litter, and hand soap. Sitting down to make a list of all these consumables and then searching for them individually takes time. Sure, it’s less than a trip to the grocery store, but I’d rather not spend my time doing either.

Choose Subscribe and Save for Your Household Essentials

For household items I know I’ll be buying repeatedly, my trick is to set them up as Subscribe and Save. That way, I can have the essentials delivered at regular intervals without having to make a list and search for stuff. Instead, I don’t even think about it. Every few weeks, a big box of items like toilet tissue and body wash just shows up at my door, and I pay the credit card bill at the end of the month.

I would just like to mention that Amazon isn’t sponsoring this post or anything like that. I just find Subscribe and Save to be an extremely useful way of keeping my frequent purchases from becoming a time suck. For me, it’s easy, and if I’m going to be buying the stuff anyway, why wouldn’t I streamline the process?

You also don’t need to be a Prime subscriber to use the service. Though we’ve discussed some of the awesome benefits of being a Prime member in the past.

Subscribe and Save Coupons and Deals

One of the other benefits of using Subscribe and Save is that you’ll often get a small discount for subscribing to certain products. It’s usually not much—a couple of bucks here and there. But that couple of bucks makes a big difference if you buy ten items at a time. Not just that, occasionally, Amazon will offer additional coupon discounts on Subscribe and Save items to entice customers to subscribe.

If one of those products is adjacent to something I already use, I might switch just for the additional savings. Now, this doesn’t work with every product. If I switched dog food every few weeks, my dogs would probably grumble, but it works on shampoo and hand soap. Like all things, however, your mileage may vary.

Things to Remember About Subscribe and Save

It’s important to note that Subscribe and Save isn’t available for every Amazon product. Just because you buy the same items every month does not mean you can set them all up on the program. But there are some unexpected items available. 3D printer filament, for example.

Overall, I find Subscribe and Save to be a great way to save a significant chunk of time every month. I get to keep a stockpile of the items I need, save some additional cash and don’t have to spend time shopping online. But just because it works for me doesn’t mean it’ll work for you. You’ll just have to try this trick for yourself to determine that.
