Every day he waited with the most hopeful look on his face until one day his dream came true and his forever family came for him.
Bennie was only eight months old when he arrived at the high kill shelter after being abandoned. He didn’t understand why he was there and like so many dogs, was longing for a family of his own.
A high-kill shelter isn’t a happy place for dogs, especially sensitive dogs like Bennie. They seem to know that their days may be numbered and undoubtedly notice the lucky dogs that leave their cage and hopefully find their forever home.
Despite being such a sweet boy, Bennie spent weeks in the shelter. Each day, with a face full of hope, his eyes told the story of a dog longing for a family to come and adopt and love him. He stared out of his cage, fear mixed with anticipation, would today be the day?
When people would pass by, Bennie’s tail would wag, and he’d sit like such a good dog. He wanted to be noticed and hoped that someday, someone would see that he’d be the most perfect good boy.
Then one day, there is a shift. His cage door opens, and he wags his tail but is also so confused…he’s unsure as if he’s a little scared to get his hopes up…what is happening? Could this be the day I find forever love?
Benny slowly leaves his cage and then it hits him, these new faces were there for him! He’s so happy he can’t contain his excitement and bounces up and down, barely able to keep his four paws on the floor.
Benny happily races down the shelter hallway for the last time and as he passes, he seems to wish his doggy friends well. But he doesn’t waste any time heading for the door. He’s thrilled to be getting out of there.
Once outside, it’s as if he doesn’t believe his luck has changed. He is the happiest boy and so excited to meet his new family, that loves him already. The dog inside the shelter is not the same dog outside.
Benny’s new life has just begun, and his happy face says it all. Surely, Benny had the best day of his life and deserves nothing but the best. We hope you enjoyed his sweet adoption story. Please feel free to share with your friends.
