Jennifer Aniston Gets Oil Spilled On Her During ‘The Morning Show’ Filming

Jennifer Aniston, 55, was spotted covered in oil while filming Season 4 of her Apple TV+ series, “The Morning Show,” in Manhattan on Sunday.

She was seen getting splashed with a sticky, tar-like substance, and appeared distressed as her white shirt and pants were stained.

It looked like she was shooting a scene where her character, Alex, was targeted by protesters who threw the oil at her.

The show recently garnered several Emmy nominations, including “Outstanding Drama Series,” and “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series” for both Aniston and her co-star, Reese Witherspoon, who is 48.

“The Morning Show” is set in the backstage world of a fictional morning news program.

The series centers on the rivalry between anchors Alex and Bradley (Witherspoon) and frequently addresses contemporary issues such as the pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The show is also recognized for its bizarre plot twists, such as sending Bradley into space or having her run through the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2020, to capture riot footage on her cellphone, including a scene with her brother Hal (Joe Tippett) assaulting a police officer.

Regarding the show’s more unusual plotlines, Aniston shared with Variety in 2023:

“Wow. Going into space, huh? Personally, I was like, ‘I would never do that! You’ve got to be out of your freaking mind!'”

When asked if the show is “camp,” Witherspoon responded, “Like ‘Dynasty’ campy? I don’t have a good perspective on that. I think we’re the wrong people to ask! I love ‘Dynasty.’ I love seeing powerful women in fabulous outfits having a verbal argument.”

Aniston also spoke about her working relationship with Witherspoon, saying, “We’ve been in each other’s lives for 20-something years.”

“It’s just in our DNA that we are collaborators. We’re partners. We’re friends. We’re girlfriends, we share all sorts of heartbreaks in life and love and everything.”

Aniston had earlier mentioned her decision to forgo an intimacy coordinator for a passionate sex scene with Jon Hamm.

“I was like, ‘What does that mean?’ They said, ‘Where someone asks you if you’re OK,’ and I was like, “‘Please, this is awkward enough! We’re seasoned — we can figure this one out,’ ” Aniston said.

Director and executive producer Mimi Leder commended the performances of Aniston and Hamm following the episode’s airing.

Leder, who is 72, told Variety in October that: “It was a closed set, and two very grown-up actors who really understood the nature of the storytelling and were very much a part of it.”

“We wanted it to be sensitive. We wanted it to be sexy. We wanted it to be adult. We wanted it to be emotional. They really let go. They’re great actors. And there you have it.”
