Jennifer Lopez feared Leonardo DiCaprio would be ‘mad’ after she revealed his ‘flirty’ text message response.
During her 2016 appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, the 55-year-old ‘Jenny From the Block’ singer participated in a playful prank that involved sending flirty texts to the 49-year-old Oscar-winner.
The episode featured Lopez and Corden in the popular Carpool Karaoke segment, where they belted out some of her greatest hits like ‘Love Don’t Cost a Thing’ and ‘On The Floor.’
Amid the fun, they decided to pull a fast one on DiCaprio.
The text, crafted by Corden but sent from Lopez’s phone, read: “Hey baby, I’m kinda feeling like I need to cut loose. Any suggestions? Let me know, J Lo. You know, from the block.”
Lopez nervously watched as Corden composed the message on her phone. In an unexpected turn, DiCaprio replied enthusiastically, text back: “You mean tonight, boo-boo? Club-wise?”
The next year, Jennifer Lopez made another appearance on James Corden’s show where they delved deeper into their infamous text exchange with Leonardo DiCaprio.
Reuniting for the first time since their Carpool Karaoke segment, Corden confessed that his favorite part of the collaboration was indeed messaging DiCaprio, a sentiment many could understand.
Curious, Corden asked Lopez, “How mad did he get?” during an episode featuring guests Terry Crews and Justin Theroux.
Lopez reassured everyone, saying, “He wasn’t mad at all! You know, I was afraid he would be mad when it all came out—he was so cool about it.”
Corden even recapped the text message for the studio audience to catch everyone up on the joke.
For Lopez, the wait for DiCaprio’s reply was the ‘most embarrassing 20 minutes’ of her life.
However, when DiCaprio did respond, Lopez was taken aback that he seemed to believe the message genuinely came from her.
She observed, “He answered back like it was totally normal that you would speak that way to him.”
Eager for more details, Corden prodded, “Did you know he calls you boo-boo?” to which Lopez responded with a playful jab at DiCaprio’s well-known bachelor status, joking, “I guess he calls every girl boo-boo!”
Adding to the fun, a company even began producing T-shirts featuring DiCaprio’s text response.
While it remains uncertain if DiCaprio was fully aware of the prank, one thing is clear: he’s always ready for a night out.
