Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves have humorously maintained that they might actually be married for over 30 years.
Admittedly, it’s not certain if their marriage is official, but both stars believe they might have accidentally tied the knot while filming “Dracula” in the 90s.
Wondering how this could have happened?
During the filming, their characters underwent a marriage ceremony officiated by a real Romanian priest.
“We actually got married in ‘Dracula,'” Ryder once revealed.
“No, I swear to god I think we’re married in real life. In that scene, Francis [Coppola] used a real Romanian priest. We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So, I think we’re married,” she explained.
Although Ryder and Reeves are not romantically involved, they remain close friends and affectionately refer to each other as ‘husband’ and ‘wife’ due to their on-screen marriage scenario from decades ago.
With Ryder promoting her latest film, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” (the sequel to the 1988 cult classic), she discussed her rapport with Reeves and the possibility of appearing in a “John Wick” movie.
Interviewer and podcast host Josh Horowitz inquired: “Could you ever see yourself in [the John Wick] world?”
“If it didn’t involved a lot of stunts,” Ryder replied. “I’m thinking of my bones.”
She continued: “I would literally do anything with [Reeves]. He’s so special.”
Horowitz then inquired about the type of text messages Ryder and the beloved star of “The Matrix” exchange.
“We do text […] We always say who it is, even though it says it on the text,” Ryder explained.
“On his birthday, I always text ‘Happy Birthday, my husband!’ and I sign off as Noni. He replies, ‘Hey, wife! Love you KR57’. Every birthday he adds his age like ‘KR57’ or whatever it is at the time. He’s always done that.”
Isn’t that adorable?
While Ryder and Reeves share this playful ‘marriage,’ Reeves is actually in a relationship with Alexandra Grant.
They reportedly began dating around 2019, and Grant has been seen with him at various high-profile events.
On the other hand, Ryder has been with her partner, Scott Mackinlay Hahn, for 15 years.
As stars of “Stranger Things,” neither Ryder nor Hahn has officially married—apart from Ryder’s whimsical union with Reeves. This unique situation has never caused any issues for either of their real-life relationships.
